Garage owner seeks legal help after being sued by Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen



BANGKOK: -- The owner of a garage has sought help from the Department of Rights and Liberties Protection after he was sued for ten million baht in compensation for damages by Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen over the vintage Mercedes Benz owned by Somdet Phra Maharatchamangalacharn or Somdet Chuang.

Mr Vicharn Ritthapana, the owner of Vicharn Garage which assembled the vintage car for Somdet Chuang, abbot of Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen, told the media today (Tuesday) he wanted the department to arrange a lawyer for him in his capacity as a witness in the case in which the car in question was found to be illegal by the Department of Special Investigation.

He said he didn’t know whether he could seek witness protection from the department the case about the car has not gone to the court yet.

Mr Vicharn received a court’s notification during the weekend about the lawsuit which was filed against him by Phra Maha Sasanamunee, the assistant abbot of Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen. The first hearing of the case is scheduled on April 25.

The garage owner denied he owns the vintage Mercedes, its engine or its spare parts. He also denied any responsibility for the registration of the car and he didn’t know who owns the car but he admitted that he was hired by Phra Maha Sasanamunee or Luangphi Pae to fix the car.

He said he received 1.5 million baht for the interior and exterior maintenance of the vintage car.

Mr Vicharn went on saying that he didn’t understand why he was sued by the monk and why the monk didn’t sue the other people who provide spare parts or engine to the car.

Guess monks aren't very religious

I thought monks were there to help people with things like religion not filing lawsuits trying to gain money.

Sad that things are happening like that.

Don't question the monk he is enlightened and is beyond petty attachments like face and grossly expensive vintage cars.

Could it be the temple assistant who did the transaction isn't a monk?, many temples have "trusted" assistants to do the "errands" for the temple.

Zero buddahism in that temple. are they Scientologist? cause... they act like it.

Remember, they are just men in orange robes!

As is so often the case, I am left scratching my head.

Military Junta, government officials, blue, white collar workers, construction workers, military service members, bar girls, all classes of Thai people AND MONKS all have one thing in common, DNA. [emoji6]

Public service here means its a great paying job with lots of perks.........

And where exactly did the 1.5 million Baht come from that the 'Abbot' gave the garage owner for repairs? I guess it was another case of 'Donations' !!
