DSI submits list of influential people to military junta for action

BANGKOK: -- As all government agencies are required to submit list of influential people to the government in its effort to root out crimes, the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) also joined the crime crack campaign by submitting a list of names it considered influential.

Director-general of the DSI Pol Col Phaisit Wongmueng said his department had forwarded a list of names of several influential criminal bosses deemed to have violated five major criminal laws to the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO).

This partial list, however, is significant in that it is different to earlier lists that were compiled by the Army, police and the Ministry of Interior that divided criminal syndicates into localities according to where they operate, he said.

According to him, the deputy prime minister’s 324/2558 directive dated 28 October 2015, describe influential persons as follow.

Influential criminal entities are either individuals or groups that have undertaken personally or by employing subordinates; to carry out unlawful activities.

These include direct and indirect support of actions that disregard the laws of the land.

Furthermore, the fallout from these criminal activities detrimentally affects the national economy, society, politics and internal security as a whole.

The directive classifies influential entities into 16 types which are unregulated money-lenders, casino operators, trafficking contraband goods, illegal arms sale, hired assassins as well as operators of illegal sex-trade, perpetrators of swindle or fraud and narcotics syndicates.

So this directive is going to rid the country of these people? Seems to me that a lot of these people have too much influence to get into any kind of trouble. I mean, remember the pervert colonel cop who paid 500 baht for getting caught filming under the skirts of a student? Imagine there are a lot more bad things done by the trusted police force that never gets reported. Many police owned casinos in my city as well as brothels. Who can you trust about this directive being fairly enforced?

this is a third world country, and there is not so much you can do about it.

In fact crime is ingrained in thai society, its in their DNA.

Remember my words, in 10 years it will be a lot worst!

Start with the scum police at Kilomet neung. (first kilometer) near the port. (EVERY TAXI DRIVER KNOWs THIS PLACE) Here are where slaves who shipped around on CONTAINERS are forced into having sex with men. The police here are very evil, they get better commission than anyone else to keep the human flesh economy going. This is the second time i report it. And im getting really tired of police doing nothing for these poor, often underage girls from burma, china, africa, and of course here. Start with the scum here please.

Another list and just what happens to them other than heading for the File and Forget cabinet ?

To much fanfare lists of suspect civil servants to be dealt with personally by the PM were compiled and submitted.

Since then the silence has been deafening .

Little boys playing their games of ' Make It Look Good '.

Where is the list? Is my wife on it?blink.png

You can submit her name and have that break we all often need

The idea is good and if only a very small part of it is enacted it will be a big improvement

Yet another dog and pony show to justify the DSI budget / existence.... As usual, anybody found guilty, will pay the paltry fine, and if sentenced the offenders will be released on bail...

I wonder how many members of the military and police are on the list?

This should be good!!!!!!!!!!!! I cant wait for this SO CALLED list to be released.

Never going to happen same as before.

Sounds as if those eligible for attention have already been long identified.

But how many of these evil influences are those who (although perhaps genuine bad guys) are primarily guilty of making the wrong enemies? Or not making the right friends?

If anything actually plays out...a few major targets may be named but it's probably a safe bet that the actual 'lists' will never be made public.

Could possibly be a good opportunity to conduct a sizable political purge within the scope of cooperative inter-agency crime fighting.

I see it from a different angle: once you are on the list- you are safe and officially untouchable.

I don't care about "lists".......let me know when someone goes to jail...until then.......coffee1.gif

this should root out a few more undesirables these people have held sway for so long they probably think they are above the law. its good to see something is being done.

...good luck....

...hands full already ......... and we do not see any verdicts on any of the big cases.....so......

...submit a list.....

...okay.....

Once again, the NCPO, whose leader has repeadetly called for strict adherence to the law, is prepared to abandon due process in favor of a secret process.

One wonders what this "law" is that the PM so frequently embraces.

Other than himself of course.

They can always invoke article 44 - do as I say not what I do mentality- this PM should start looking at his own people (army) (police) (monks) (ex - politicians) in that order if he's seriously wanting to change Thailand for the better
