Manhunt launched for gunman who injured two spectators at a car race course

BANGKOK: Pathum Thani police are hunting for a gunman who indiscriminately fired four gunshots into a crowd at a car race course Saturday night injuring two spectators.

The two injured victims whose identities were unknown were rushed by security officials to Thammasat hospital for medical treatment.
A witness told police that he heard gunshots and then saw a man holding a pistol run out of the race course toward a car and then drove away.

Police combed the area where the gun was suspected to fire into the crowd and found four spent shells of 9mm ammunition.

They have also asked cooperation from factories located near the race course for footages from their surveillance cameras which may provide police with a clue about the car driven by the gunman which may track to the gunman.

Police suspected that the shooting might stem from conflict between race course operators or conflict between rival groups among the spectators.

Ah, the geniuses are out of their cages. It takes just one post to make this about America. How many times to you need to be shown that Thailand has 3x the gun murder rate per capita that the US has? Huh? Not to mention highway deaths.

So sit their smugly in one of the most dangerous countries in the world and mouth off.

Cheers.

Or they don't know.

Why can't the BIB admit they don't know and just say they are investigating?

Indeed, and it also just takes one more to make this about highway deaths in Thailand!

That is exactly what they are doing. Suspecting means not knowing and having more than one suspicion emphasises that. If they said nothing you'd be even less happy and subject them to even more derision than usual.

Petrol heads and guns, a dangerous combination.

Once more you are wrong on a number of levels.

A: they are speculating when they trot out the same old BS thoughts based on nothing.

B: I would have a lot more respect for them if they were honest enough to admit they are unsure and are investigating.

Remarkable how often you get it wrong when you speculate your suspicions about my motives.

Because that's what all people having any kind of 'authority' here do (f.i. starting like with any 'technician' holding a screwdriver in his hand for the first day in his life, to end up at the top with generals, ministers, etc...): talk a lot, speak out loud, to prove that they, they 'know' (often alas jacks..t), to show how important they (think they) are, and affirm their higher position on the ladder than the ones listening to them, ...who are so used to this kind of reaction they could hardly accept a silent attitude, which could even end up in face loss for the 'authority' ('he says nothing, because he doesn't know'), it seems to be part of 'Thainess', and for sure is one of the many adverse consequences of the lack of education of the masses (un-existent critical thinking)...!

Possibly true, but what stands out in America rather than other violent countries such as Thailand, Brazil, South Africa etc. is how often the shootings are "indiscriminate"; i.e. target people who have no real argument with the shooter. In other violent countries, inter gang rivalry and personal and business disputes together with the perpetration of violent crime/terrorism and the official response to it account for the vast majority of shooting deaths other than suicides. In the US, in addition to all this stuff, we get these school/university/workplace/church shootings which have no apparent equivalent in other countries and where the shooter(s) just seems to go around killing people for the thrill of it. Happens also occasionally in other 1st world countries too, like Norway, Scotland, Canada but with far less frequency than in the US.....because access to guns is better controlled in those countries?

What a perfectly ignorant comment. Thailand's homicide rate by guns is greater than the USA. You could look it up on Google, but I suppose that would disturb your false narrative.

Or possibly you could actually provide the evidence to back up YOUR narrative!

Show us the figures about murder gun deaths!

These figures are not new and are based on per million but give a reasonable indication: http://www.nationmaster.com/country-info/stats/Crime/Murders-with-firearms-per-million

or http://www.nationmaster.com/country-info/profiles/Thailand/Crime

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_firearm-related_death_rate Thailand is not listed, but 10.54 for USA, coming in at 12th place in the chart.

Why can't the BIB admit they don't know and just say they are investigating?

Give the BIB a suspicious death and the motive is ... or ... or, or until the list of possibles is exhausted.

Simpler and wiser to say the enquiries are continuing and a statement will be made when appropriate but that doesn't make it sound as if they're top of things and that's loss of face.
