What Does หมั่นเขี้ยว Mean? (mun-keeow)

Featured Replies

i always did understand it as "cute", cute as a baby, but, not meaning

"having a babyface"

If the thais translate it in English for you, they wal say "lovely"...

The definition in Mary Haas is Student's Dictionary is "to feel like biting (into something)" - Used especially when seeing the temptingly chubby cheeks of a child.

In that dictionary, the spelling is มันเขี้ยว which I think is more correct, the first word does not sound like a low tone to me.

มัน , to feel like (doing something)

itching to (do something)

to be fun , enjoyable.

มันเขี้ยว , is an extension of that and used colloquially has the meaning of ( i think) good enough to eat / take a bite of / grab / wanting to possess.

I think the first 'man' here meaning fun is usually spelt มันส์

มันเขี้ยว I've only heard used in 2 situations by women who wish to express that they can barely restrain themselves a) with a cute baby and :o with a handsome man! It is usually accompanied by the "lips-pinched-together-sniff-kiss" or pinching or similar actions.

Normally when I hear that, it is followed by being bitten or pinched.. which is nice.. :o

totster :D

A corresponding English idiom might be "I could just eat you up."
