Army mobile development unit scrambling to dredge waterways in Uthai Thani province

UTHAI THANI, 16 March 2016 (NNT) - A mobile development unit 15 of the Army's First Region provided troops and machinery to dredge waterways in Chaowat county, Ban Rai district, Uthai Thani province.

Over 1,000 villagers in more than 2,500 households in that area will benefit from the dredging project, aimed at solving a chronic drought crisis. Currently, over 80 percent of the project has been completed.

The dredging and development of water resources will alleviate the suffering of drought-affected villagers, especially those in remote areas, so that they have water for consumption throughout the year.

I would suggest that over the years most klongs, canals and waterways nationwide have silted up and they all need dredging.

In the klong across the road from me in Rural Khampaeng Phet, they are dredging the klong for the third day running.
