NCPO expediting help for troubled citizens

BANGKOK, 16 March 2016 (NNT) – The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) is urgently providing assistance to all people who are faced with various problems, such as drought, smoke haze and unfair pricing of products.

NCPO Deputy Spokesperson Col Sirichan Ngathong disclosed that Deputy Secretary-General of the NCPO Gen Chalermchai Sitthisart has instructed all related units to extend help to drought-affected residents across the country.

Officials from the Peace and Order Maintaining Command, Damrongtham Centers and Provincial Commerce Offices are also being dispatched to inspect product prices in local markets in order to prevent vendors from overpricing their merchandise when supply is low. Moreover, the authorities will support the development of civil state markets, which will serve as another channel for public members to sell their OTOP products and farm produce.

The NCPO Deputy Secretary-General also ordered close surveillance against wildfires and smoke haze. Authorities in each area where the burning of agricultural waste is still practiced have been told to take appropriate actions to stamp out the problem.
