:D

heard yesterday in pattaya of one poor soul just turned 50 who went to jomtien imm to apply for his marriage visa extension only to be told that he had to be 60 now to qualify. he explained he had been here with his wife 8 years already and had a young son. They politiley advised him to put in an appeal.

have to see what happens :o

Yet more nonesense - what is the logic in favouring elderly parentage? you either have legitimate dependants and qualify for a certain type of visa or not. The 50 year age was reasonable and you can argue that you have finished you working life, but 60? you may not have enough go in you to start a family let alone support one

That doesn't make sense unless there was a misunderstanding. There is no age requirement for satisfying a one year extension based on marriage. Try another officer or go to another immigration office. And as far as I know, extension based on retirement is still 50. Lop, you there?

There is, and never has been, any age qualification for an extension based on marriage so am not sure what you heard but it sounds rather odd.

Sounds very odd... :o

I could vaguely understand them putting a maximum age of 60 but a minimum..... :D
