Seoul: North Korea fires 4 short-range projectiles
By HYUNG-JIN KIM

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — North Korea on Monday fired four short-range projectiles into the sea, Seoul officials said, in a continuation of weapon launches the country has carried out in an apparent response to ongoing South Korea-U.S. military drills it sees as a provocation.

The projectiles launched from the northeastern city of Hamhung flew about 200 kilometers (125 miles) before landing in waters off North Korea's east coast, South Korean defense officials said on condition of anonymity, citing department rules.

Monday's launches came three days after Seoul said North Korea launched its first medium-range missile into the sea since early 2014.

South Korea's Yonhap news agency earlier reported that a missile had been fired, but later changed that to say that projectiles had been fired.

The firings appear to be North Korea's response to the annual springtime military exercises that it says are an invasion rehearsal. Earlier this month, North Korea fired several short-range missiles and artillery shells into the sea and threatened pre-emptive nuclear strikes against Washington and Seoul.

The drills are the largest ever, and come after the North's nuclear test and long-range rocket launch earlier this year.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un recently ordered tests of a nuclear warhead explosion and ballistic missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads.

South Korea and Us train for invasion. So North Korea trains for defensive. Makes sense to me why should North Korea lay back and not do some defensive training in light of such invasive training going on next door.Or are they expected to be a door mat. As one poster pointed out in another thread they are still technically at war.

Perhaps if North Korea stopped it's shenanigans, the South could start backing down also?

It was apparently designed for a surprise attack on Seoul from North Korea, and could accommodate 30,000 men per hour along with light weaponry.[3] Upon discovery of the third tunnel, the United Nations Command accused North Korea of threatening the 1953 armistice agreement signed at the end of the Korean War.[4] Its description as a "tunnel of aggression" was given by the South, who considered it an act of aggression on the part of the North.

Isn't North Korea already a doormat at China's backdoor (commonly referred as the servant's entrance)? wai2.gif

I can't say I blame them for wanting deterrent measures against a SK / US invasion scenario, but setting of nukes is (almost) internationally condemned, and for good reason.

NK is a truly evil regime... If you have time, read Craigt3365's disturbing supplied links... I knew it was rough over there, but rough seems a huge understatement.

Please stick to the topic.

I dont get it, Countries test their weapons every day, and nobody hears about it, Yet if NK does it we all go ballistic over it.

punt intended .

They hate us cause they ain't us.
