Thai charter drafters say they accept some contentious junta points
BY AUKKARAPON NIYOMYAT

BANGKOK: -- Thailand's constitution drafters said on Tuesday they had accepted proposals from the ruling junta that critics say are designed to prolong the military's hold on power.

The generals running Southeast Asia's second-biggest economy have vowed to restore stability in the politically divided country and hold a general election in 2017.

But critics, including main political parties, oppose some provisions in a new constitution they fear will dilute the power of parties and enshrine the military's influence.

No matter what the people want just go right ahead , that is the thinking of a dictatorship , from what I gleaned from a SBS OZ programme which included Prayut - O this person would have to be the most unstable, unsuitable person to lead any country, let alone Thailand , when a leader says that anyone opposing the junta could end up dead or in Jail you have to wounder how long piece will remain in Thai, as for the notion that they will fix a divided nation, pigs fly on Sundays as well...............................coffee1.gif .

As someone observed on Twitter today this is typical behaviour from the undemocratic Thai elite.Demand the universe and settle for control of the earth.A complete red herring. What a pitiful farce.

Being an optimist, I will wait and see what the final draft charter will be,

The fear of leaving no way to come back for the junta if the elections go awry

weighs heavily, and trying to do that with out bloodshed is paramount,

if you make it to direct your seen as a dictator to loose and all the time

spent in power has been for nothing,

Once the elections have decided who, is the leader,

then we will see what gets repealed, or is repealable,

I just pray or hope the merry go round cycle is broken finally.
