Two high-ranking Interior Ministry officials and a RCAF general were convicted by the Phnom Penh Municipal Court yesterday on charges of defamation aimed at tycoon and CPP senator Keo Maly.

The 45-year-old deputy chief of the anti-cybercrime bureau, Lieutenant Colonel Pheng Vannak, and Brigadier General Hang Borey, 54, were each fined 5 million riel (about $1,250) to be paid to the state and an additional 15 million riel (about $3,750) to be paid jointly as compensation to Ms. Maly, according to Presiding Judge Top Chhun Heng.

Both were sued by Ms. Maly, the director of Crystal Rice (Cambodia) and vice-president of the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce, on August 25 last year after they alleged she had sexual relations with RCAF Lieutenant General Seak Socheath, Judge Chhun Heng added.
