NLA president talks about dismantling of digital clocks at Parliament building

BANGKOK, 27 March 2016 (NNT) - The president of the National Legislative Assembly (NLA) says the Parliament has dismantled the 15-million-baht digital clock system in its building.

NLA president Pornpetch Wichitcholachai, who is also head of the Parliamentary Officials Commission, said he was aware that 240 digital clocks in the parliament compound had been pulled out by the provider company. The president said the Secretariat of the House of Representative had not yet paid a single dime since the clocks were installed for trial use only.

Speaking about a group of civil servants who asked for a probe into the procurement of the digital clocks, Mr Pornpetch said they had all the rights to do so, and that it was unnecessary for him to reiterate to officials about the transparency in procurement projects as the latter all knew their scope of responsibility.

To do the math 15 million baht divided by 240 clocks = 62,500 baht per clock. Are they Rolex? Seem's very expensive! Any kickbacks I wonder....?

They are Cristalys Date clocks that are currently retailing for €428 (16,900THB), so, yes, the price was very expensive!

Make them keep them and write a new rule where these clocks can not be re-placed for 100 yrs.

I'm sure a Thai company would supply 240 expensive digital clocks on a trial use only.

Of course HoR hasn't paid a single dime since the clocks were installed because they paid with baht.

Hey, both figures have a 6 in them, as does the difference. If you apply " creative accounting procedures" then it looks pretty transparent.!

Many people cannot read digital clocks.

The Mercedes dealer will have a large selection of unsold inventory after this, haha.

I'm guessing a lack of kickbacks is why the vendor hasn't been paid anything. The corruption and greed in Thailand is slowly but surely ruining this country ... and it keeps getting worse, not better.
