PHUKET: -- The long-awaited power substation under construction on the west side of Kata Hill is target to come on stream in June, providing more stable electrical supply to the high-growth Phuket areas of Kara and Karon, on the west coast.

Sermsakul Klaikaew, Governor of the nationwide Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA), inspected the Karon substation on Saturday (Mar 26).

“Tourism and business growth in this area has been very quick,” he said. “This new substation will help prevent power outages and allow more growth by providing stable power supply.”

Construction began in November 2013 with a budget of about B280 million.

Check them all out, high viz vests and hard hats.whats this country coming to.think of the corruption that could go on if they had health and safety.its on its way, they just ain't got around to it yet.

Hold on I've just spotted a few minus their high viz vests.thats a grand each or your on your way to the unemployment office.i want to be a health and safety inspector or win the lotto.no thinking about it I'll be an inspector first. I love this country.the news never fails to amaze me,U.K. News is depressing.

We 'long suffering' Kata residents have had to put up with so many power downs during the construction of this sub-station over the past 3 years.

The reason for that me old mate is because they connected it up before they built the sub-stationTIT

I suppose they need to power up all those new resorts and businesses that are sadly lacking customers.

But hey It will be alright when High Season comes.
