NAKHON PHANOM:-- North Eastern cops intercepted a large consignment of 'Grade A' marijuana worth ten million baht headed for use by tourists in Koh Phangan, Phang Nga Province Thursday.

But the driver of the vehicle managed to flee the police and escape.

Acting on a tip off that a large quantity was heading from a neighbouring country via the Mekong River into Thailand police on the Nakhon Phanom - Mukdahan road lay in wait.

The Isuzu with Bangkok plates showed up but when they ordered it to stop the driver managed to swerve round a truck. He crashed into a roadside klong but managed to flee.

A one hour search of the area failed to find the driver.

In the pick up officers found 313 kilos of compressed ganja worth 1.5 million baht at source and up to 10 million if reaching it's destination.

The drugs were hidden behind a false label disguised as fertiliser. Police believe the drugs were headed for the tourist market down south for use during the upcoming Songkran festival.

...how do they know exactly where it was going....???

on our local checkpoint they seem to know what day, what brand truck and what colour to stop. 3 weeks ago all black vigos were stripped while other colours only got a look inside.

Do you think that the mibs are able to catch anybody in this country without a grass ?

Of course I can bet $1m US that 99% of people are caught because or piecesofshittte informers.

This article is ridiculous. The police didn't even catch the driver yet they knew it was going to Koh Phangan in Phangna province? Koh Phangan is not even in Phangna province.

I agree that this article raises more questions than it answers but......we are talking here about recreational drugs which some folk consider their right, regardless of the law of the land, anywhere. I personally disagree with you that informers are necessarily all bad. I am generally glad that the RTP have informers to help improve their strike rate on any and all serious crime.

Personally, I would not bet much more than $1.00 that they could NOT identify any one, or more of us, if the stakes were high enough.

Please let us know, Mr btdc if you get a surprise visit for a look at your back yard or an in-depth investigation of your back passage.

I guess that you are old and also against alcohol and cigarettes because this is exactly the same, you want it or not.

Ok, I will check the next houses, as this is from where my Wifi signal comes from <3 And the proxy has been paid with a US credit card borrowed from someone that I don't know, hope it helps <3

Just the reply I was expecting! Thanks for not disappointing me. Note how I checked back so soon after, to see if you had replied yet. I am watching you, Buddy. I have more than a passing acquaintanceship with my friend Leo and I have a cigar every 5 or 10 years, whether I am due for one or not. Cigarettes??? Filthy habit! P.S. My only recreational drug is Viagra! 555 P.P.S. Will check back soon to see if my next prediction is also fulfilled.

Songkran festival, full moon parties, or just chillin. Plenty of demand. whistling.gif

Plenty of demand. Both of the local and imported variety. Sometimes you think the government has been on it for the last umpteen decades. Might explain (some of) the lala-land decisions, actions & predictions.

Oh yes, excellent police work. Now the kids will be doing ya baa or getting smashed out of their minds on alcohol instead. Great result.

What is it with the Thai authorities and grass? Back in the early 70s when I was first in LOS, grass was everywhere. Nobody bothered about it, it was just part of the laid-back culture. Kids weren't interested in doing any other stuff - why bother when you had access to excellent Buddha sticks. Then the authorities in their great wisdom got heavy with grass, which was of course replaced with other more easily transported (and much more harmful) stuff.

The stupidity of the puritan / authoritarian mindset is hard to fathom.

I love your post based on experience !

So true that only retarded countries (most until USA tell them to change) fight grass when there are so many more important problems !
