I'm a 29 y/o Canadian guy heading to Thailand, never been to a country where I needed a visa. I hope someone can help me:

*If I have a 6 month triple entry visa does that mean:

i) I can no longer be in the country after 6 months, OR

ii) My last entry into Thailand has to be before 6 months (and then I can stay some more time from that point)?

*(Continued from above Q): I am hoping to make three entries of 2 months + 1 month extension on each, so can I enter for the third time a day before 6 months and then stay the extra 2 months+1 month?

*Is it no longer a triple entry but instead a multiple entry? And if so, does that still mean I have to leave every two months?

Thanks guys,

Nate

There are no triple entry visas !

You can obtain a multi-entry tourist visa in Canada which will allow 60 day entries for as long as the visa is valid (six months from the date of issue)

Each 60 day entry can, if you wish, be extended for a further 30 days at an immigration office for a fee of 1900 Bht.

At the end of each 60/90 day period you must leave the country and re-enter to get another 60 day(extendable) stay.

So if I enter Thailand 1 day before 6 months, does that mean I have only 1 day left in Thailand, or does it mean I have 60 days (+ a 30 day extension if I wish to buy it)?

It means yo would get permission to stay for 60 days (extendable by 30)

If you wish to make maximum use of the visa it should be obtained as close as is possible to your planned departure date.

The visas expiry date (enter before date) is clearly marked on the visa.

I have a few years left on my passport, but I'm guessing the 6 months (if not extended) is the enter-before date, not the leave-before date, correct? So If I enter a day before 6 months I can still stay for 60 days from that point, + 30 if extended?

Absolutely correct.

The 6 month visa cannot be extended.

Only the permission to stay can be extended.

Any entry made on or before the "enter before" date will allow a 60 day(extendable by 30 days) stay
