Watching The Masters

I was on the phone this AM with my 90+ year old former avid golf-playing mother. She reminded that at the 1967 masters as a kid I was sitting properly at the 7th hole green behind the rope.

Arnold Palmer made a chip shot which landed between my legs. I didn't move. Mr. Palmer came up to me and said: "Excuse me son, I've got work to do."

My mother later told the story that I was in awe and didn't move and I said: "No -- I was afraid that if I moved I would touch the ball and I waited until some official or maybe Mr. Palmer himself told me it was OK to move because I was always told NEVER to touch a ball in play."
