Portuguese Culture Minister resigns after threatening to slap two newspaper columnists



The Portuguese Culture Minister has resigned after threatening to slap two columnists at the newspaper Publico.

He made the comments on social media after the pair described his work style as one of “cronyism, domineering and rudeness.”

His apology was then criticised as being half-hearted after he said “I’m sorry if I scared them.”

Prime Minister Antonio Costa gave a public apology saying the episode did “not reflect how the government wants to relate to people.”

Joao Soares is the son of former president and prime minister Mario Soares.

Only "slap" them, not execute! And he resigned, different strokes.

He merely was demonstrating that they where right in their original assessment of him.

Who does he think he is, a Thai general!?

Could he not send the journalists to an AA session?
