NONTHABURI:-- A noodle seller went berserk in his house attacking his own family members with a knife and hammer before killing himself Sunday.

Police rushed to the Feuang Suk housing estate in Bang Bua Thong, Nonthaburi where they found Kitti Khanonrnwet, 40, dead in a bedroom from apparent smoke inhalation, reports Manager.co.th.

The dead man's grandmother, mother and elder and younger brothers were grievously injured downstairs from knife and hammer attacks. All were sent to hospital but are expected to recover after emergency surgery.

Kitti was a noodle seller at Ban Bua Thong 4 estate and had a history of mental problems. Relatives had tried to get treatment for him several times but he had usually refused.

Owarang Wongyi, a relative said that the Kitti was paranoid and often ate alone at the house saying that people were trying to poison him. He would sometimes buy food bought outside the house and even ate it in the bathroom on occasion.

She said Sunday that Kitti suddenly attacked family members before locking himself in his bedroom upstairs in the two storey house. Police found the embers of a bed, pillows and a mosquito net with Kitti dead on a sofa in the room.

Bangorn Khanornwet, 74, Somsawat Wongyi, 52, Siripat Soison, 48, and Naworn Wongyi,23 were all taken to Bang Bua Thong Hospital with wounds sustained in the attack but were out of danger.

Thainess at its best

What mental illness is somehow Thainess?

Not really a subject that should provoke a cheap jibe such as that and the family deserves some sympathy at least.

I have a Thai friend who has schizophrenia and the treatment and support she and her family get is sadly lacking.

Maybe he was upset that they did not pay for their noodles.

That is good coming from you, one who thrives on sympathy from TV.

The man, obviously, had mental health issues, unfortunately, there is not a great system for people with these issues.

Also, if you had your accident, driving home pissed as usual, instead of coming into town, I do not think your 'new' friends would be so sympathetic.

And as for health insurance, I do believe you had none, but, because you were married to your internet 'sweetheart' (LOL), you were covered.
