Nobody??

Are you planning to start from Chiang Mai ? Will you be driving, or using public transport ? Where will you want to end your trip ? What sort of budget do you have for hotel accommodation ? I think more information from you might elicit replies from people with knowledge of particular areas.

i am driving up this july ( again) form Phuket

Lampang, Kanchanaburi, Mae sot, Prachup Khiri Khan & Phang Nga are great places to stop

By my OWN car i havent any hotels planned as i can do when i'm on THE wat depends where i am

With your own car, and that much time, I don't think you need to do very much planning. Start with a plan to visit six or seven places, and stay at each one for two or three nights. Except for western New Year's and Songkran, there are almost always vacant hotel rooms in Thailand, and you will not be travelling during a holiday period. And with your own car, you can easily move if every room in a town or neighbourhood is full. You might want to check hotel booking sites to get an idea of prices. Almost anytime you search for anything in English related to Thailand, you will be bombarded with ads for hotels.

I never book hotels on my trip up north each year

Never had a problem getting a room
