PM Prayut rejects rumors of a plan to set up new political party

BANGKOK, 14 April 2016 (NNT) - The Prime Minister has denied rumors that he is considering setting up a new political party to take part in the upcoming election.

Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha asserted that no new political party will be set up for the next election and that no one in the National Council for Peace and Order has expressed an intention to join politics in the future.

Gen. Prayut also insisted that he has no plan to remain in politics and that all he has wanted to achieve was to solve the many problems of Thailand and to organize a new election.

Concerning reports that a list of outside nominees for the prime ministerial post has been prepared in case the two major political parties fail to elect a premier, the DPM stated that the next PM will be nominated and elected by members of parliament.

He added that an outside prime minister would take office only when the government does not have full authority to administer the country.

"He added that an outside prime minister would take office only when the government does not have full authority to administer the country."

With the proposed new charter no future government will ever have "full authority" and that's just the way you want it.

And "no unwrapped candy" will be a winner of a policy.

You can divide the country up with three major parties. All you will do is reduce the Democrats and the Suthep people and once again give PT a victory. The one thing you don't want to see.

The one thing I don't want to see is what we have now.

No truer statement has ever been made.

Every one of the 12 successful military coups and successive PM's was predicated on the fact that elected Thai governments never have full authority to administer the country.

There will not be a coup

There will be elections in 2015

There will be elections in 2016

There will be no formation of a new political party

Yes I remember well all those statements so his not forming a political Party can be taken with a grain of salt. As can promises of free and fair elections. All will abide by the results as long as the Ruling Elite remain in power and the Peasants stay in their rice paddies. LOS = Land of Suppression
