CHUMPHON: -- Dozens were injured when a Bangkok bound tour bus overturned in Chumphon on Sunday night.

The double decker vehicle, owner by Suriyakit Tour, ended up on its side on the Asia Highway just 500 yards from the Lamae Hospital, Daily News reports.

Some thirty five injured people were taken to that hospital. The bus was on its way from Yala to the capital when it lost control just before midnight.

"The bus was on its way from Yala to the capital when it lost control just before midnight."

The Land Transport Department is going to have to find ways to sort out these errant buses that seem to want to crash all too frequently.

Yes, naughty bus loosing control like that. I sure hope the driver gave it a good telling off.

One of those home-grown plywood buses, by the looks of it. Styled to make it look like a power ranger.

I don't know but I'd be surprised if some of those injuries weren't caused by unrestrained bodies flying about.

I seem to remember a few years back there was going to be a crackdown on buses that were constructed higher than regulated. I doubt that went very far. I'm not suggesting that this was the case with this bus.

NO!!! The bus did not lose control....the tosspot driver did. Of course; we already know it was 'brake failure'...or possibly the new latest excuse..'I had a stroke'. Lol.

Death traps, should be removed from the roads, But of course somebody gets a brown envelope. Problem removed!

not surprised at all, we were driving the other way and there were a heap of these buses chasing each other at high speed heading to Bangkok. They drive like they are racing cars, the drivers simply have no idea about the centre of gravity for the bus, they are maniacs swerving in and out of each other.

They are going to have to install "training wheels" on these buses ,they are always tipping over.

The chassis/suspension was NOT designed by its manufacturer whomever it is for what the Thais use it for, namely, double decker. It was designed for lower level freight and in case of tourists their suitcases compartments between the axels making the CG close to the ground. In the double decker the CG is too high from the ground making the double decker UNSTABLE and prone to ROLLOVER. This by now has been explained time-and-time again without the Minister of Transportation taking any action to stop the building of these double deck deathtraps. No need to say WHY because this being Thailand the reason is as old as the hills while foreign tourist are as stupid as they can be to get into these double decker buses and of course to get the best view climb right up to the top deck making the CG as far away from the ground as possible. Talk about Thais being stupid, you may wonder who takes the cake, the Thai or the Foreign tourist???

LOL in LOS

It simply re-enforces my view that Thailand is all about style and not substance, when it comes to manufacturing. You wouldn't get an old London bus overturning like this, even though many Thai's would consider them ugly.

Let me distill that for you.

...Thailand is all about style and not substance...

At least the injured could walk to the hospital.

no dead, obviously a trainee driver

If Thai planes crashed as often as Thai buses do, there would be immediate action taken. But for some reason, no one fears a bus crash, so nothing ever changes.

let me decant that from the mountain still for you..... thailand is all about style and substance abuse.... style being the bus and the rest is in the driver
