Man shoots ex-wife then self in front of two year old daughter

ROI ET: -- A jealous husband shot his two year old daughter's mother in the face before turning the gun on himself in Roi Et on Tuesday.

The man's recently divorced wife is still alive but the father was found dead at the scene, Daily News reports.

Police arrived at a one storey house in Na Muang sub-district of the north eastern province to find Somphot Sae-tang, 43, face up on a bed soaked with blood. The room was spattered with brain matter. He had a gunshot wound to the right temple. A gun was found.

The deceased was an engineer with the municipal authority in neighbouring Yasothon province.

Neighbours had been alerted earlier when the man's ex-wife Pornpan, 31,had managed to run out of the house. She had been shot in the right cheek.

Police discovered that the couple had been married and lived together for ten years but had argued when the husband claimed his wife was having affairs. They had legally divorced just before Songkran with custody of their two year old daughter going to the father.

Pornpan had gone to see her ex husband on Tuesday to collect her daughter to take her to her workplace where there was a party. She works in a well known clothing store as a saleswoman in the Selaphum area.

After the party she took her daughter back and they went in the house. Soon she ran out saying that she had been shot and her ex had killed himself in front of her daughter.

Police surmised that the jealous husband had tried to get back together with his ex and after being rejected decided to kill her. After believing he had been successful he shot himself, they said. Both shots came from the same gun.

Police are waiting until the ex-wife recovers sufficiently before continuing their investigations.

He should have shot himself first. Very stupid man. Hopefully the 2 year old will not be too tramatized and will not remember this terrible event.

As old and unmaintained as it looks it should have backfired which was unfortunate for her.

2 year old won't remember anything...better two than 6 or 7....

I see that they did a mental health evaluation of the husband...not....sure makes the courts look bad giving an unstable engineer the care of the child....

What does that say about the mother and her past/character? Child's future looks pretty dismal..

I hope the courts/social welfare dept studies this case and take away lessons learned - okay wishful thinking

Pretty damn stupid reasoning , it was the ex he wanted dead how could he do this if topping himself first ?

They found brain matter splattered all over the room. This I find hard to believe.

Custody going to the wacko father? More to this story than simple jealousy, especially after a divorce did happen.
