PM urges workers to show up in force to vote in the referendum

BANGKOK: -- Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha today (Sunday) urged Thai workers not to fall prey to political distortions and disinformation by political elements bent on discrediting the military junta and to show up in full force to vote in the August 7 referendum.

Addressing workers on the occasion of May Day, the prime minister likened the government and the National Council for Peace and Order to a locomotive which may appear to be old but is determined to push forward to reach the destination.

He said that he didn’t want the votes from the people but wanted them to vote for the country.

The prime minister insisted that his regime has no problem with democratic rule but has wanted a strong democracy to be established. He, however, charged that there are still ill-intent elements bent on discrediting his regime and misleading the public.

But the prime minister said that he would not bow to the pressure of these ill-intent elements and would resort to the law to deal with them to ensure that the referendum will be held on schedule.

Unless you have your head buried firmly in the sand, this fellow and his cronies have done a pretty sterling job of discrediting themselves.

Yes, by all means, "resort to the law" to deal with the people opposing you.

And if that doesn't work, quickly make up some new laws.

It's the beginning of May, August is 3 months away! Referendum news for the next 3 months, oh joy!

'misleading the public' another 'hub'?

Is there rule of law if some are above the law : article 44, forgiving themselves for the coup ? The junta has yet to do anything credible besides bike lanes and beach chairs. This general is an odd follow. Perhaps he should sing .

Lots of talk about something no one knows anything about yet

Don't listen to misinformation etc just listen to us.

Cue Annie Lennox - " Would I Lie to You ? "

A hard right reactionary and head of a military junta addresses the workers on May Day and seems not to find that ironic. The world truly is going mad...

i.e. you will be "railroaded"

I can see this coming!emotionheader.jpg

The Prayut regime wants a strong democracy to be established.

And the military has shown that until it gets the democracy it wants, it will continue to overthrow democratic governments until the Thai people understand their proper place in the Thai Kingdom.

With 19 coups d'étas since 1932 apparently the Thai people are slow to learn.

Now if only those workers would vote like they want to vote rather than how some or another tells them. An overwhelming 'yes' would create stability, an overwhelming 'no' would force the current government to rethink and maybe even finally use the 2007 constitution as starting point.

I will double the minimum wage and will give each farmers another B 15 k if I become PM. But you must not vote for those corrupt politicians that come with populist policies to you.

Careful what you wish for, the only chance they have for a yes vote is an incredibly low turn out. No sane person that wants democracy is going to vote Yes on this draft.
