Taxi driver praised for returning money to passenger

BANGKOK, 6 May 2016 (NNT) – Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport has granted a certificate for a taxi driver who has returned belongings left behind by a passenger, promoting the act as a role model for taxi drivers.

Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi International Airport has granted a certificate to Mr Pan Daochan, a taxi driver registered with the airport who has returned belongings of a passenger who left them behind on 2 May 2016.

The belonging was successfully returned to Me Omar Ali, a Kenyan passenger who took the taxi from the airport to a hotel in Pratunam area, Bangkok. The belonging is a black wallet containing 3,500 US dollars worth of banknotes.

On this occasion, Suvarnabhumi Airport Deputy Director Patchara Pornyuthapong has thanked and praised Mr Pan’s honesty and noble actions which reflects the level of care he has towards passengers, which in return has brought fame and builds the airport's good image.

She states that all airport staff should look up to Mr Pan as a role model when providing services to passengers.

Is it that time of the month already to be getting this type of report?

I am sure this man was so happy to receive a certificate instead of a cash reward.

But seriously, how can this one man's actions reflect the level of care and brought fame to that airport when hundreds more taxi drivers still scam their passengers or commits crimes against their passengers? What a crock....

Quick, make a mold out of this man and re clone all the taxi driver of Thailand to be like him

before these breed of man will disappear completely....

Right on time. Usually comes shortly after 1 - 2 negative driver stories.

Wag the dog.

It speaks volumes about a country when someone doing an honest deed makes headlines.

Maybe he can now become the 'official' taxi driver for airline staff.

All the people in the picture with Mr. Pan, maybe making 5-10 times as much money as the taxi driver..., I wouldn't trust a single one to return a 3,500 US $, if they found it...

This is the "editors pick" ?

Wonderful news, now we know for sure among the hundreds of dishonest/questionable ones we have at least one decent one whistling.gif

Well done K' Pan, at least there is some good hearted people out there.

It speaks volumes about a country when someone doing an honest deed makes headlines.

So the world is fukced then: Google ''taxi driver returns money (insert western country)'' and you'll get many hits. Here's the first headline from the squeaky clean honest Canadians: ''Calgary cab driver returns lost bag with more than $10,000 cash inside'' ;)

Good guy like so many around here. I can tell more great stories than bad stories. The problem is most articles are negative and sensational.

So they don't all scam their customers with the broken meter line, or attack them.

Well actually I did think that already.

It speaks volumes about a country when someone doing an honest deed makes headlines.

If you took a photo of all the dishonest ones, it would be impossible to fit them all in on one photo.

Good for that driver BUT it does not make up for all the other "scam" drivers around!

Perhaps Suvarnabhumi Airport Deputy Director Patchara Pornyuthapong should make an effort to stop the scammers operating at her airport?! Does the airport control the lease?

This stupid generalizations reality not fair.Ich've actually always had good experiences with Bangkok taxi drivers. Due to some black sheep vilify an entire profession is abnormal. I wonder about people who against Thais write constantly, always know everything better and live in Thailand, why you do not go back to your home country? There you have certainly suffer less.

People are entitled to express their opinions on an open forum.

As for the home country, I am sure taxis are not squeaky clean where I come from, but I have not been back for 11 years, so I cannot comment. However, as long as I continue to live here, if I think something is wrong, I will express my viewpoint on it.

I agree wholeheartedly

Twice I left something in a taxi by mistake one time - brand new iphone and notebook passenger side below my feet.

My friend called my phone us trying to get him to stop but the thieving bastard legged it through the traffic lights.

Second time my suitcase on the back seat with 300, 000 baht camera clothes and whatever but he legged it too even after my mate threw a plastic bottle at his taxi the f()&&&&ing Snake.

I have a complete vile opinion of transportation drivers all over Thailand!!

Had to get that off my chest .......

Taxi driver fined for overcharging.

Quick Somchia grab one of those certificates out of the cupboard, ok now smile. But I'm not a taxi driver. Doesn't matter shut up and smile.

Oh Somchia before you Finnish work can you order another 30 reams of certificates from the printer, we're getting low.

What stupid generalization? What are talking about that my comment would make you think I was against Thais? It seems to me that YOU are the one generalizing and biasing your opinion on your very limited experiences. And that it is YOU who has a problem with foreigners instead. I can understand now why you are in Thailand. Shunned by your own people and exiled here instead.

Do you even have a single foreigner friend here?

Nobody said they actually did return it. Just that he turned it in. I didn't read anything about the grateful passenger being reunited with his money.

hehehe don't you just love it ...... a topic guaranteed to bring the 'haters' out of their closets

Makes a nice change to hear some good news. The problem with news is most of the time its bad things happening. I don't mean Thailand specifically; most news everywhere is bad news?
