Could someone tell me the difference between the following:

KHEM (เข้ม)

KHEM KHON (เข้มข้น)

Khem can be use with person the meaning will be "handsome" (หล่อเข้ม).

Khem can also mean "strong" or "dark" eg; 'strong coffee' (กาแฟเข้ม or กาแฟดำ) or 'dark colour' (สีเข้ม)

Not sure if เข้มงวด (strict) is the same as khem.

Khem khon mostly uses with food the meaning would be like "tasty".

For KHEM KHON, many sites often show it as a concentrated liquid, but I will check on that further.

I thought KHEM was salty and KHEM KHON was 'thick' as in a 'thick soup' or in a 'concentrated form'.

Thank you for your post. The KHEM you are thinking of, which means salty is a different KHEM. It is written as เค็ม in Thai.

I also noticed that KHEM KHON was often shown as a concentrated liquid. I think you may be correct with that. I am still checking.

I guess it can be used in many and different sentences and can be changes into different meaning as well.

RID to the rescue:

เข้มข้น ว. เข้มมาก...

KHEMKHON (Modifier - adjective or adverb) Very KHEM.

KHEM means แรงกล้า (RAENGKLA) - "strong" (again according to the RID) and is primarily used for taste and colour.

In other words, KHEMKHON means "very strong".
