BANGKOK: -- The board of True Corporation decided on Monday not to join the re-auction for 900 Mhz spectrum expected to be staged in June by the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission.

It was reported that the True board felt that the company has had enough spectrum which includes 900 Mhz, 2100 Mhz, 1800 Mhz and 800 Mhz to provide services to its customers.

Also, True Corporation wants to give a chance for free competition for the utmost benefits to the consumers.

True Move H Universal Communications, a subsidiary of True Corporation, has earlier won a license for 900 Mhz spectrum and the NBTC has decided to ban it from participating in the re-auction.

The 900 Mhz spectrum to be put on re-auction was forfeited from JAS Mobile Broadband after it won the first auction with an offer of 75,654 million baht but it defaulted in first instalment payment within the deadline.

Too bad they do not offer a sliver of the spectrum for the general public to use freely like other countries.
