PM’s Office Minister Suwaphan unworried about any disturbance during NLA-CDC trips to explain public referendum

BANGKOK, 18 May 2016 (NNT) – A minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office is not worried about any possible attempt to disrupt the government’s mission to explain the public referendum to people across the country.

PM’s Office Minister Suwaphan Tanyuvardhana, said on Tuesday that the security division has been monitoring all situations constantly and has not detected any irregularities to date.

Mr. Suwaphan is confident that the trips undertaken by the National Legislative Assembly and the Constitution Drafting Commission to meet with people across the country to explain the draft charter, and scheduled to take place until the end of July, will be trouble-free.

Nevertheless, he noted that a weekly assessment is still needed to ensure order and peace.

The PM’s Office Minister also insisted that the Thai government has always recognized the significance of human rights, which foreign governments have often expressed concerns about.

While denying any worries about possible pressure from outside the country, Mr. Suwaphan stated that the government has been making all its plans according to announced policies and strategies as much as possible, while exercising its legal power as much as the laws allow.
