Venezuela’s President Maduro threatens to increase emergency powers

CARACAS: -- Tensions are mounting in Venezuela. The country’s president has threatened to increase his powers further by raising the current state of emergency. Pro and anti government supporters have taken to the streets.

Meanwhile President Nicolas Maduro appeared on television to defended his actions.

“The National Assembly wants to remove me and tie my hands, you know why? If they had my hands tied and I could declare a state of emergency then we wouldnt have been able to make any decisions.”

Earlier anti-government protesters tried to reach the headquarters of the country’s electoral body to meet their demand for a referendum to recall unpopular Maduro.

It’s the third demonstration this week. On Tuesday, opposition leader Henrique Capriles called on the country to reject Maduro’s extra powers.

narrative, this will not fill up their bellies with food......

Must have been imagining it, but I'm sure I recently read that Corbyn was praising Venezuela, in particular the quality public health service, and the country for offering a fantastic alternative to bankster led capitalism. Can we send him there to see for himself - one way ticket mind you, we don't want the socialists and commies back.

Corbyn travelled to Venezuela in 2012 to cheer on the re-election of Chavez. With him was old flame Diane Abbott and Owen Jones making up the party.

Dictatorial. The photo says it best.

Given half a chance Jeremy would be only too pleased to re-create Venezuela's socialist miracle economy in the UK. Nicola the First is already trying to do the same for Scotland.

This is now an classic example why extreme socialism and communism are guaranteed to fail.In the process of making the poor minority more well of,you are making everyone poor and your country collapses.Let`s hope that this is the final nail in the coffin called communism and that the goon Maduro and his croonies steps down before they ruin Venezuela beyond repair !!

Just invoke Article 44....duh.

Unlikely he will be replaced with anything other than what he is. Better the despot you know may be the order of the day.

End stage socialism.
