TAIWAN -- Taiwan’s first female president being has been sworn in.

Tsai Ing-wen’s Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) won by a landslide on voter resistance to creeping dependence on neighbouring China.

Beijing is deeply distrustful of her DPP who promotes a “sovereign and independent” Taiwan.

Communists say they rule all of China, including Taiwan, while nationalists maintain Taipei is the ruler.

Tsai said she will safeguard Taiwan’s sovereignty and territory and the island would be a “staunch guardian of peace.”

One China,,,governed by Taiwan

I would advise her not to take China lightly. They carry a big stick and have been flexing their muscles all over the China Sea. Politics are cyclical in nature and I think that China is now swinging back to a more aggressive stance when dealing with what they perceive to be their territory. Hong Kong is a great example. Don't provoke the Chinese bear he may just bite you.

Smart girl and good role model for Taiwan. She has a tough hill to climb to lift Taiwan back up again. Pretty sure she will tread carefully regarding to issues with China, the previous president as like china's dog....
