Border checkpoints tightened up to prevent Dhammachayo from escaping

BANGKOK: The Department of Special Investigation has sought cooperation from the Immigration Bureau to tighten up monitoring of people leaving the country through all 118 immigration checkpoints as a precaution against possible escaping by Phra Dhammachayo.

Pol Lt-Gen Natthathorn Prohsunthorn, the Immigration Bureau commissioner, said Friday that the embattled abbot’s criminal record and details of his arrest warrant had been computed into the bureau’s computer system and the system would give an alert the monk leaves the country through all the immigration checkpoints.

An informed DSI source disclosed that the director of Panurangsee army hospital in Ratchaburi had informed the enquiry officers of the DSI that the letter purported issued by the hospital’s deputy director certifying that Phra Dhammachayo was sick was illegal because the embattled abbot had never been treated at the hospital.

Sure;y such an important and revered figure who is totally innocent would have no need to leg it, would he ? gigglem.gif

It's also unlikely that such a well connected person would have any assistance from ' unexpected, especially official ' sources. That sort of thing just wouldn't happen here.

More potential charges, more people involved which will do nothing to ensure this gets handled properly, if at all.

Good, just the vintage car monk nominated for Supreme Patriarch left. A bit more dirt dug up on him and the Sangha Council is in full control of the junta. Religion, check, government (senate), check. Unmentionable topic, check. Absolute power. Hooray! 20 more years!

Senior Police Officer :

"Now chaps we want to set up some secret checkpoints to prevent that suspect chappie from escaping you may be aware that he might try and escape wearing orange - be alert!"

Police Recruit:

"But Sir why don't we arrest him"?

Senior Police Officer:

"you're new here aren't you? we can't go around arresting people what sort of message would that send? no,no secret checkpoints are our cunning device"

The Lt General's alert will be worth squat if its set up " to alert those leaving the country" I would think you would want to take

muppet into custody prior to him crossing the border.

What have the enforcement personel been doing, haveing meeting in a 5 star hotel in Singapore? They act like trail hounds following

the trail of a escaped convict. The mans where abouts, have been and should be known by the authorties down to gps location

If this one escapes capture/ justice as did the last one the men in charge who are responsible for enforcement should be jailed for

the same amount of time this joker is looking at and not released until the monk??? is put in the same place they are residing.

Its not like there is a wall keeping in nor out of Thailand. Everyday there are hundreds walking back and forth through the boundries

with 3 other countries plus those who jump on a ship, private aircraft, etc to leave Thailand.

Does Thailand have any trained, experienced crime busters in positions to go out and make a arrest and physically detain a suspected big time criminal? It would be laughable if there was not so much to be lost to individuals it was not meant for.

Was there ever any doubt in that regard.

Should be easy to spot at any border crossing,he will be the one with

all the suitcases full of money.

regards worgeordie

Given the current political climate and numerous high profile criminal cases, that does not really narrow it down much.

Sorry Geordie
