I spend so little money in Thailand that it's hard to open my wallet

Recommended Posts

Wow who would have thought this thread would have ended up in an argument about the price of caviar? I can afford the caviar but I save money on the crackers. This is how I can justify it to myself.

i am looking for Russian friends who deliver tons of "vile" caviar for peanuts. great savings! cheesy.gif

Caviar is vile tasting stuff. If you buy those little broken headed mackerel that the Thais love, the taste is about the same. Super fishy. I wouldn't give 100 hundred baht for a ton of the stuff. Well, on second thought, maybe I would. A ton of the stuff would fatten up the fish in my pond.

Just bought "caviar looking shoes" at Zegna.

32,000b.

Love these shoes.

I saved on the 900b socks.

Did not buy any.

Great savings again.

This thread is becoming surreal.

Love it smile.png

Reminds me of one time I was at the Bellagio in Vegas. I had to go out that night and be dressed well, I went into a shop downstairs in the lobby. I needed a pair of black socks and the guy was telling me how great his socks were. So I told him just give me 6 pairs, it came out to nearly $800. So I told the guy maybe I just need one pair. lol I can't remember what they were made of but I saved around $650 by only opening my wallet a little bit. i felt like a loser having to back pedal. Those were the days!

Yeah, but all these amazing savings are the spices of life :)

Not so long ago some friends and I woukd never miss an occasion to fly to singapore to buy socks around Orchard Road. Far cheaper there.

And by staying at the Marriott Tang Plaza we saved a lot on the limo costs. All malls are at walking distance. Sweet (super savings) memories :)

Let's have another Stella smile.png

Ahhhhhhh NOW we talk :)

But I am afraid that to have another such delicious expensive high quality premium imported beer goes against the subject of this thread ;)

The connoisseurs who want to enjoy this 600 years old beverage will have to open their wallet. More than once. Stella in Thailand is not for everybody. It is reserved for the lucky (financially comfortable) few.

Perfection has its price...

The plural of baht is baht. No matter how much you don't spend.

I get by on about US 10 K a year. I eat out and drink a lot. Fly to HKG or BKK at least twice. Dont own motorised wheels. My biggest cost is aircon. Then food. House paid off by someone else... Amazing really.

There are beers to brag about but Stella isn't one of them.

not to forget that no amount of quality beer goes with the consumption of a ton of caviar. laugh.png

Maybe not a ton, but quality beer and a reasonable amount of caviar are going together quite good.

Please do not misunderstand the meaning of my messages. I do not brag about my savings. But... even if others seem far far far (...) more advanced than me when it comes to save money, I believe that I am not that bad either.

One more way to make your life super cheap in Thailand (as on the pictures):

- Hoegaarden super premium beer, instead of champagne.

- Oscietra caviar, instead of beluga.

- Crab sticks from 7/11 (29b a pack) (the king of the savings).

Perfect "saver's combination". You don't need to call a master chef to prepare your dinner anymore either.

And with all that money you just saved, you can go shopping tomorrow :)

my friend from Russia bring me tons of caviar...

you Sir are nothing but a pathetic trolling liar.

Why is he a liar?

When I lived in Serbia during the commie era, we had a ton of caviar brought to us from Russia. It was (is?) cheap in Soviet Union.

Yeah... I'm sick of caviar too.

One man's trash, another man's treasure as they say.

I am applying this to bargirls here.

you Sir are acting like a clown but without providing any entertainment value.

reason: when you lived in Serbia (early 1990s?) Russian caviar was approximately 750,000 US-Dollars a ton. in Germany i used to pay at that time 145 Deutsch Marks for 125 grams.

today the cheapest quality of Russian caviar sells for 3,000 US-Dollars/kilo = >3 million Dollars for one ton. but that only on the black/grey market because of EU import sanctions.

please stop insulting the intelligence of the forum readers with your ridiculous claims.

Caviar is not very expensive in Russia if you know where to buy it...Hint- it's not official shops. If we talk about beluga caviar it's more expensive and more difficult to get it. There are regions in Russia where caviar as common food as eggs or bread.

This is becoming painfully embarrassing. I have never seen the lines between peasant and billionaire more blurred. Lol this is a thread of the year candidate now and the stuff of legends. smile.png

Look what I just brought home! I am so abundantly wealthy that I am going to eat all of this by myself. Don't be jealous of my tremendous win here!

Craaaaaaaaaaaackers :)

AND fruits !!!

Are you on a spending spree?

And what is that expensive looking juice on the side?

Today you really exaggerate.

We are here to speak about savings. About NOT opening your wallet.

I think you got it all wrong.

That juice makes me jealous though :) :) :)

It is only the finest dew from the mountain otherwise known as Mountain Dew. Considered very high end back in the USA but here I get it for 14 Baht a bottle. Yes, I admit today I splurged a little bit. This was to celebrate opening my new bank account!

A new BANK ACCOUNT ????

My god... I have the feeling that you prepare yourself for some serious spendings now.

At the same time, one of the easiest and most efficient way of not opening our wallet is to use these credit cards that all these banks offer us to use :)

I just didn't need to buy 6 pairs of $120 socks, although the one pair I did buy was and will continue to be the best dress socks i have ever owned.

Quality comes at a price wink.png

Hence it is really puzzling why one lives in a 3rd world country.

It was just a humorous story of one time around 20 years ago when I needed some socks and got a bit of sticker shock not knowing what they would cost. When I asked for 6 pairs I was expecting the price to be less than $100 at the most. So I humbly backed off and looked cheap because I could only afford one. Try to grow a sense of humor. for one small moment I thought I was a high roller and then got called out and had to put them back and then I understood that people have bigger budgets than I do and different lifestyles.

Excuse me for having ever gone somewhere and wanting to go out and dress up for a nice meal and to see some shows and go to the casino.... I do not know what it so puzzling about it?

I think that guy (from another forum) (and other associated pseudos) is just trying to brake the good atmosphere of this thread and bring it back to its original depressing state...

BUT... with all those great savings we already made, and all those great life stories that we share, we are all in a state of true happiness, aren't we?

You want another tip to make super savings?

I bought a Bovet watch at Gaysorn (Where Bovet is located). The watch was rather expensive, I must admit.

But you know what?

Once I decided to buy it, they brought me and my friend a full afternoon tea set from The Oriental shop. It was not only delicious, but after that great attention from the store manager... I did not have to eat ANYTHING else for the rest of the afternoon !!! The whole afternoon !!! Incredible saving, isn't it?

So, if you want to save on food, hurry up, and buy a watch at Bovet (On top of that it's all limited editions). Pure happiness :)

I don't need a watch, I have an iPhone. (second hand) paid 100 euro.

I saved 25000 baths. with this money saved, I can live 3 months in Thailand for free

what about that?

Amazing !

We still have a lot to learn from you (and associated pseudos).

Second hand iphone. Never thought about that one.

I always assumed that I would lose face with only one of the lastest model iphone. That is why I opened my wallet to buy two 6s and one Samsung (in case of).

But... To use only one second hand iphone is indeed super amazing savings. What a bright idea :)

So, no iphone 7 next September, and here we go: Three full months of free crackers!

Very tempting indeed.

Can't say thank you enough :)

Arf :) :) :)

My apologies.

I thought the comment was about saving some baht.

But now that I know it was about saving on baths, water and soap... Eeeewwwww ! Disgusting.

Thanks for letting us know.

Wow how does theguy know what phone return uses? Anybody else beginning to think they are the same person? :) did somebody post under the wrong sock puppet by accident there?

Of course it's all the same guy :)

But shhhhhhh... don't tell him.

He is in his own "multiple personalities trip". We don't want him to suddenly find out the ugly truth about himself and have him end up in shock...

And besides this, he (and associated pseudos) is super entertaining :)

I wonder if having multiple personalities leads to even more savings... Should study the question a bit ;)
