rooster59
MH17 crash: victims families sue Russia and President Putin The families of victims of downed Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 have launched a lawsuit against Russia and its President Vladimir Putin. The legal action, filed in the European Court of Human Rights, is seeking almost nine million euros in compensation for each passenger killed. In all, 33 next of kin, from Australia, New Zealand and Malaysia are suing the Russian state and its leader. The claim is reportedly based on the passengers right to life.Last year, Dutch investigators concluded the doomed jet was shot down over eastern Ukraine in 2014 by a Russian-made Buk missile. All 298 passengers and crew on board were killed. Most were from the Netherlands. The flight was en route to Kuala Lumpar from Amsterdam at the time. The West and Ukraine blame Russian-backed rebels for the crash. Moscow has accused Ukranian forces. -- (c) Copyright Euronews 2016-05-

Krataiboy
Good news for everyone. The Russians have always denied responsibility for this tragedy and claim to have evidence to support their case. Now we will all be able to make up our own minds, based on the facts presented to the court rather than media propaganda emanating from the Kremlin - or the White House. elgordo38
How much clout does the European Court of Human Rights carry in Russia. I am sure Putin will just brush them off as a minor nuisance. Edited May 22, 2016 by elgordo38

mki8
The truth is a lot more complex than most may think, what we have been shown is what they want us to see, so we just start pointing fingers without ever thinking about motive, Some simple things to think about, is all the troops can easily tell the difference between a passenger plane and a fighter jet. And why did the pilot venue fly over that area? The plane was shot down, and the mess that followed afterwards was just to help cover up the murder of a few of the passengers on board. And there was probably a few governments or groups of this knowledge. Soldiers just follow orders and never know the true reasons behind their orders Don't worry about who shot it down, Ask yourself WHY was it shot down? mopar71
All you need to know is that at the time of the shooting down of MH17 the Russia-backed separatists announced that they had shot down a Ukrainian military cargo plane in the same place MH17 was shot down. This was reported in Russian TV (Life News) and they even showed video of crash area. "Russian terrorists accidentally confirmed they shot down MH-17 after Kremlin-backed media channels had posted a video of the downed Ukrainian AN-26 according to the words of self-proclaimed Donetsk Republic's leader Igor Girkyn-Strelkov, but deleted it as soon as they found out it was Boeing-777. " There you have it,,, Russian separatists admitting to shooting down MH17 when they thought it was something else.

AlexStepashkin
How can a lawsuit be filled on someone who wasn't yet objectively proven as guilty? The mafia in the Kremlin blocked the UN investigation because they are guilty as sin. Only paid trolls and massive fools believe anything other than Russia is to blame. You're lying. It's not investigation which was blocked. They blocked "tribunal initiative", and motivation was: it's too early for such steps before all needed investigation were done. Big difference. Good news for everyone. The Russians have always denied responsibility for this tragedy and claim to have evidence to support their case. Now we will all be able to make up our own minds, based on the facts presented to the court rather than media propaganda emanating from the Kremlin - or the White House. They not denied the responsibility, they replied to allegation and one-way blaming. They not only claiming evidence, but showing them to those, who are interested, because ukr-netherlands comission is not very much cooperating with ru on that matter Edited May 22, 2016 by AlexStepashkin
bassman
Got to admire Putin, just deny and take no BS. Meanwhile, we have "America can do no right" Obama, who happens to be out on another journey of apologies, this time to Vietnam and Japan. It takes a strong leader to counter both Putin and Xi (China), not more of the Obama/Clinton coalition of losers and wimps.

In what is the first ever conviction of its kind anywhere in the world, the former US President and seven key members of his administration were today (Friday) found guilty of war crimes. Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld and their legal advisers Alberto Gonzales, David Addington, William Haynes, Jay Bybee and John Yoo were tried in absentia in Malaysia. The trial held in Kuala Lumpur heard harrowing witness accounts from victims of torture who suffered at the hands of US soldiers and contractors in Iraq and Afghanistan. Class C
Shouldn't LHD Lawyers, the Australian firm behind the lawsuit, be asking why on earth Kiev air traffic control diverted the flight from its normal southerly route to pass right over the war zone to the north? And furthermore, why has Kiev failed to release the air traffic control recordings? Who is culpable?

Rancid
Many Aussies died on that plane, so I'd be delighted if the perpetrators were sued, or even better jailed However, despite the media hype, there has been no conclusive evidence the Russians did it or any reasonable assertion as to why they would. Seems like another 9-11 scenario where a shonky story full of holes is put out and we're all expected to believe it. Perhaps one day we will know what happened, especially as the US had extensive aegis radar and satellite coverage running that has never been presented.
