I recently entered Thailand with a fresh single entry tourist visa. I initially intended to stay 60+30 days, but it seems I will have to take a shortish trip (3-5 days) soon, and it wouldn't seem to make sense to throw away a perfectly decent SETV.

Can I obtain a re-entry permit with my SETV and if yes, how many days will I have left when I return? Where would I obtain said permit and what would I need to apply?

Thanks :)

  • Yes you can. It will cost 1,000 baht.

On re-entery you will be granted the remainder of your initial 60 days.

  • e.g. If you left after 10 days and return 5 days later, you would be granted 35 days on re-entry.

You maybe able to apply at your local immigration office (otherwise at CW Bangkok) OR at the major airports on the day you travel. Only some land border crossings.

You will still be able to apply for the 30 day extension if you use a re-entry permit for your trip.

You can get reentry permit from an immigration office.

You will need copies of of the passport data page, visa, entry stamp and departure card + a photo, completed application form and the 1000Bht fee.

The "admitted until ------- " date stamped in your passport remains the same.

Elviajero: Not sure i understand your arithmetic:

Arrive - stay for 10 days, therefore 10 days used of permitted initial 60 days.

Leave Thailand for 5 days, then return to Thailand, therefore 10 + 5 = 15 days used of permitted initial 60 days.

60-15= 45, so surely you would be granted 45 days on re-entry?

Was it a typo or have i missed something?
