The Chinese are hiding their books and protests are breaking out across the country. In one place factory workers even threatened to jump off the factories they work at. It seems the notion that Chinese people relish and even embrace economic misery are not how it is. This is happening after how long? Give it a month and see it play out. I can live with out a new toaster that long.

OP's link is nothing  more than Op-ed that states nothing of substance, no real source of info.  I don't see any protest, just people standing around or working.  No dating of even those depictions.

As per the NY Times link above and the bold highlight, maybe the Chinese are just giving themselves out if 'success' requires Donald Trump to admit he was wrong about ANYTHING.

If I want to know what to expect from the CN - USA trade negotiations, before they happen, I'll ask my dog, as surely the info will be just as accurate.

A suit is underway in Federal Court claiming that the Trump tariff is unlawful under the IEEPA.

As to what if any attention the Chinese are paying to that, I have never seen any reference.

I think the reference is to the situation within China, not the negotiations.  And from what I hear, the situation in China is far from perfect right now.  A collapsed real estate market, bankrupt mortgage lenders, closing factories, angry laid off workers, all but empty retail stores, among other problems.  Xi doesn't really have the luxury of trying to outlast the US Fed and their ability to counterfeit the world reserve currency at will. Hence, the trade negotiations will begin in Switzerland.   

 

I think China just cut interest rates, and I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have done that if their economy was doing well.  Their currency was already under pressure.

That kind of litigation probably won't be settled overnight. In the meantime, there will be a trade deal with China. 

The case is moving last action 06 MAY.

Stories like the one in the OP pops up once a week. When it's getting reported in the reputable part of media (sane media) I'll pay attention.

The linked story contains a picture of some workers who might, or might not, be Chinese standing around doing nothing.

I lived in China 2015-2017; already then things didn't seem so great. Empty WalMart outlets, with a good number of pick-pockets, but few customers, despite cheap imported products (e.g. 1L milk from UK, Italy, AUS, NZ for 10 yuan or less). Young women stealing vegetables from F&V stores, then chased by the guards. Restaurants empty most of the time, people not having much money or work, many high-rise buildings almost empty... Xi only made it worse with his biological weapon and the lockdown back home. I wouldn't bet that the CCP regime will survive more than another 20 years, at best.

It's not a slam dunk case, in any event.  And in this case, the court might be reluctant to conclude that Trump isn't acting within his powers under the Act.  

 

 

It is not a slam dunk and there is no restraining order involved.

I will just go with who is handling the case that the case is not frivolous.

Apparently, the people opposing the tariffs have a couple of legal theories. And while the cases are not frivolous, once you factor in the political aspects, the courts may well be reluctant to wade into the matter.  I'd be surprised if the issues are settled anytime soon.

Once in a while, I buy things from the USA Amazon and those purchases are shipped to Thailand.  Depending on what you buy, the import duties aren't too much and the shipping may be free.

 

Maybe tall that will stop, if the tariffs go into effect.

While the US Administration is clearly the source of the current round of self-defeating nonsense, any country - such as Oz - that has been the victim of Chinese trade bullying in recent years would laugh cynically at Chinese moral posturing.

There is no tariff on exports, but Amazon is not the best choice for Thai delivery
