Flying from Chiangmai to Bangkok and to Singapore

Hi

Quick and fast question, so maybe I don't need to go airport to ask by myself. I am flying from CNX to BKK, then ,with Jet-star , from BKK to Singapore.

- Do I go through immigration at Chiangmai or Bangkok ?

- Will I be able to have my Jet-star boarding pass in Chiangmai ?

In case someone did this trip, I am all ears. My booking from Chiangmai is not yet done, could be TG or Bangkok Airways or Smile Air. The reason is, as my flight from Bangkok to Sing is early morning (9.15 am), immigration and boarding pass in Chiangmai would save me a lot of time for connecting flight. That's why I ask.

Thanks for information

PS : I have carry-on luggage.

Phil.

It depends...

If you have a connecting flight with the same airline - you will go through immigration in Chiang Mai and then be escorted from domestic to international (via a back route) to catch the connection - so you don't re-enter Thailand.

If you are using two airlines or booking two separate tickets with the same airline - you will go through immigration in Bangkok. You'll need to exit the domestic terminal and go to international to leave the country.

To make matters worse - if you don't use a full journey ticket (Chiang Mai - Singapore) - if the first flight is late/delayed/cancelled - the airline has no obligation to get you to Singapore at all and you'll need to buy a new ticket to get to Singapore. I think I'd go down the night before and stay in a hotel in Bangkok if I was taking that approach.

Is jetstar flight from CM

If not you be flying domestic to BKK

Then International

You will have to exit domestic then go through Iternational

No easy way for low cost airlines

If you can afford it Silk Air

Direct CM to Sin

That is unless you can get a flight through one of those airlines direct booking but through BKK to Sin

That way you will only have to do the Transit from 1 airline together

No good trying with out booking a flight to see if you can do it

Also the cost i have found is expensive using domestic then international

Just as easy to do domestic then international

Time is nothing these days

We flew to Singapore last week cheap and cheerful, from don maung ,, never again,, tucking nightmare,, no parking, HUGE cues, oh back to the point you fly in and out of the same airport ?

Sent from my GT-I9000 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

Hi

Jetstar does not flight from cnx. I have already my ticket bkk sin.

I flight from suwanaphun, not don muang, and yes i must take a cnx flight to swampie.

Silkair.. Good option but too late.

So anyone use thai airways flying to Jetstar?

Sometimes different companies allow connecting to a different one. I think i need to specifically ask airport so in this specific case.

Thanks for all suggestions this can help... For next trip maybe

Neither Bangkok Air or THAI earliest morning flights can get you to Bangkok in time. You will have to fly down the night before. So you question about through checking baggage is academic. And you will end up paying more for domestic flights and hotel than for you Jetstar flight.

Brommers is correct. Fly down the day before to DMK or BKK, whatever fare or time suits. The free shuttle between DMK and BKK takes 50 mins and if you book a hotel near Suvarnabhumi they may also provide free shuttle between your overnight hotel. eg Great Residence, a cheap bed with clean sheets and 2-way transport for about 900bt.

You might have been better off booking AirAsia or SilkAir for CNX - SNG.

Thanks to all , stopping one night in Bangkok is not a big problem, so I think I will do like this.

I did not think AT ALL about Silkair ... shame on me.

Thx

Phil.

Maybe we are so relaxed here we forget to use all our brain cells

just a bit of tounge in cheek

I use various search engines like Expedia (and Airline sites) for flights to say NZ, Aus and Europe and usually find the best deal is ex CNX, with the CNX-BKK leg costing no more than departing ex Bangkok.

Same thing on return eg Australia to CNX via Singapore Airlines and Silk Air (half the price of TG flights too).
