NRSA confident new laws on water resources and community forests will be passed before end of current government

BANGKOK, 25 May 2016 (NNT) – The National Reform Steering Assembly is confident that new laws to govern the country’s water resources and community forests will be brought into effect before the current government leaves office.

Secretary and spokesman of the NRSA's committee on the steering of national reform efforts, Kamnoon Sidhisamarn said that the committee has already proposed a draft Water Resources Act and a draft Community Forests Act to the main assembly’s meeting.

Mr. Kamnoon said that both drafts have already been approved and are set to be presented to the Cabinet for further consideration.

He added that once the Water Resources Act is in use, it will be the main law to steer the reform of the management of water resources in an efficient manner and to solve any problems related to the issue.

For the Community Forests Act, Mr. Kamnoon said that the new law will represent a new dimension in legal development to help people live in harmony with forests under the authority of the law and the supervision of community, provincial and national-level committees.

He believes that both laws will be passed and go into effect within the life of the present government.
