kannot
"He noted that the case could not be handled by law alone but also with the monastic law and dhamma discipline concurrently." well there you have it. Buddhist rules trump civil law. No need to make it national religion: already is. Bright point is that shows bully boys back down when faced with united opposition, may give hope to other "faiths". Monk should be put in meditation cell at local prison.... who knows, he might even find out what Buddhism is actually about, given enough time. Of course, religion and beliefs do no harm whatsoever ,its good to know that laws of fairies, pixies, elves, and little green men from Mars can all be used. reasonablyspeaking
There is a much larger picture here and one which requires restraint. It is alleged Thaksin and Red-shirt leaders support this corrupted sect. This is about money, control, influence and power. This is also about undermining society to create divisions (as always) The last thing the General wants is Buddhists sects fighting each other T on the other hand.... -------------------------- Next Supreme Patriarch must be free of scandal, politics Since Somdej Chuang is close to Phra Dhammachayo, who is closely linked to a certain political party, Thai Buddhism will likely become more and more politicised under his leadership. Hence, Somdej Chuang’s ascension to the post of Supreme Patriarch would likely do much to upset the country’s religious and political equilibrium http://www.nationmultimedia.com/opinion/Next-Supreme-Patriarch-must-be-free-of-scandal-pol-30277321.html --------------------------- Jatuporn backing wrong candidate Controversial politician Jatuporn Promphan has warned of a big public protest if Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha does not put forward the name of Somdet Phra Maha Ratchamangalacharn (aka Somdet Chuang) as a candidate for supreme patriarch. Somdet Chuang was a mentor to Phra Dhammachayo of the Wat Dhammakaya sect. He is seen as a big supporter of Phra Dhammachayo in all his unorthodox and controversial behaviour. http://www.nationmultimedia.com/opinion/Jatuporn-backing-wrong-candidate-30276699.html -------------------------- Threatening from Thai monks in European countries lead by Chao Khun Berlinagainst those who disagree with the appointment of Somdej Chuang http://www.thairath.co.th/content/565293 https://www.facebook.com/362860800503417/photos/a.362861143836716.1073741825.362860800503417/799285980194228/?type=3&theater
