Baffled

I use a Logitech Roller Ball Mouse on both of my computers.

Each connects via USB plug in 'Receiver" ( Logitech® Unifying receiver)

https://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/wireless-trackball-m570?crid=7.

I am pleased with my Mouse.

Occasionally it is necessary to remove the roller ball to clean out, no problem, seconds only to clean.

This morning my Mouse started to play up. The cursor did not move uniformly, so out with the Ball clean and insert, problem remains but system is workable.

A check of my system shows my USB plug ( Logitech® Unifying receiver) is missing, not connectected, nowhere to be found.

The maid cleaned my room yesterday so maybe she manage to disconnect and lose.

Yet there is a connection between my Mouse and the iMac, not perfect but workable.

Any suggestions as to why it is still working ?

Thank you Gents for your input.

I am no expert on computer matters a pure user.

If I disconnect my USB Receiver from my Laptop then the Roller ball fails to function as it should do.

Both of my computers a iMac and 13" Macbook Pro are up to most recent updates.

The Roller Ball is still working on the iMac, not perfectly but sometimes large movement of Cursor for small input, other times normal movement.

Still Baffled.

  • 3 weeks later...

My connection is improving by the day.

Now consistent cursor movement with rotation of Roller Ball.

It also works at up to 4 Foot away.

Still no sign of my 'USB Receiver' .

Still baffled, it should not connect but does.
