Hi guys,

I have a TESOL certificate but do not hold a degree. I do however have hold a tertiary certificate for Pastrycooking which I did through a TAFE college in Sydney. Would this certificate plus my TESOL be enough to obtain a work visa in Thailand? :o

sevenseconds to assist TV posters in their endeavours to offer good advice I have copied the AQF so they can place your "tertiary certificate" into some sort of international perspective -:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Qualifications

All TAFE NSW courses are linked to national curricula through the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

The AQF was designed to ensure graduates from any state will have their qualifications recognised throughout Australia and overseas.

The following section details the various links of AQF awards. There are both time and cost savings.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

AQF Qualifications

TAFE Statement

Awarded for the completion of specialist courses or those of short duration. May include modules from other courses and offer advanced standing or credit transfer.

Statement of Attainment

Awarded for modules from a certificate, diploma, or advanced diploma. Acquire introductory skills or additional skills in a particular occupation. Graduation provides credit for transfer to a higher level TAFE NSW course.

Graduate Certificate

This qualification may be obtained following completion of a Degree or an Advanced Diploma. Usually includes training to broaden skills and knowledge gained in an undergraduate program, or training in a new professional area.

Certificates

Certificates range from levels I to IV. Some courses link incremental skills within the same occupation or industry, for instance Information Technology Certificates I, II & III.

Certificate 1

Acquire introductory skills for some occupations. Leads to Certificate II.

Certificate II

Courses include traineeships with an on-the-job component. They provide preparation for employment and apprenticeship. Preparatory to Certificate III.

Certificate III

Courses prepare you for skilled employment in a wide range of occupational areas. They are roughly the same level as the earlier trade courses. May lead to Certificate IV.

Certificate IV

Usually include supervisory and advanced technical skills and may build upon existing skills acquired in a Certificate III course or equivalent.

Diplomas and Advanced Diplomas

These qualifications prepare you for professional work requiring a broad range of complex technical skills and in-depth knowledge. Often includes training in management, planning and evaluation, budgeting and finance, as well as the knowledge and skills of the occupational area.
