Commerce Ministry sees opportunities for Thai produce in Cambodia

BANGKOK, 8 June 2016 (NNT) – The Ministry of Commerce has pointed to Cambodia as a viable market for Thai market expansion and investment, especially for farm goods.

Minister of Commerce Abhiradee Tantraporn has let on she recently received a report from a Department of International Trade Promotion Office in Phnom Penh that agriculture related products are in high demand in Cambodia.

The report explained farm production in the country has fallen behind demand and driven up prices of farm goods. At the same time, the Cambodian government is supporting investment in the agricultural sector, creating demand for farming machinery.

The office noted the situation poses opportunities for both Thai farmers and manufacturers of machinery; emphasizing Thailand is especially poised to satisfy demand in Cambodia due to its proximity. It urged Thai producers make the most of this opportunity.

The report also mentioned that Cambodia’s improving economy has increased the spending power of its citizens and led to a growing need for health products and organic produce.

It would seem that Lao has cornered the tiger market........................................cheesy.gif

I would think that the way many Thai people (especially the government and "HI-so") treat and look down on our neighbours from Cambodia, this would be the last country they would want to buy food from.

They are going to talk to Cambodia after they stole their dance! biggrin.png
