Vietnam’s new President Tran Dai Quang ended a two-day state visit to Cambodia yesterday as both countries decided to create more agreements related to border cooperation and the availability of medical treatment. During his visit, Mr. Quang paid a visit to King Norodom Sihamoni and met with the presidents of the Senate and National Assembly yesterday. He also had a meeting with Prime Minister Hun Sen.

After a one-hour, closed-door meeting with the prime minister at the Peace Palace yesterday, Mr. Quang said he appreciated the cooperation and implementation of agreements between both countries, according to Eang Sophalleth, Mr. Hun Sen’s assistant, who spoke to the media at the Peace Palace. “Tran Dai Quang said that our relationship, especially the agreement between both parties [Cambodian People’s Party and the Communist Party of Vietnam] and both governments which has been implemented and had good results,” Mr. Sophalleth said, adding that Mr. Quang requested that Cambodia pursue other agreements, which when signed by both countries would produce even more results.

Mr. Quang also invited Mr. Hun Sen to pay an official visit to Vietnam. The premier accepted the invitation and asked the Foreign Ministry to discuss and organize this visit, Mr. Sophalleth said.
