Min of Agriculture invites foreign ambassador to view Thailand's agricultural production process

CHONBURI - RAYONG, 16 June 2016 (NNT) - The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives has invited Ambassadors from 34 countries to inspect the quality of Thai food and agricultural products in an effort to build confidence among foreign buyers.

Minister of Agriculture, Gen Chatchai Sarikulya invited Ambassadors from 34 countries to visit Chonburi and Rayong Provinces to witness the processes involved in preparing agricultural products such as fresh and processed chicken, fruit and fish in order to build confidence and expand markets.

Thai agricultural exports in 2015 totaled 1.3 trillion baht. Notable export products included para rubber, rice, seafood, processed chicken and fruit. Major trade partners include China, the United States, Malaysia, Indonesia, the United Kingdom, Australia and Hong Kong. New markets that the Ministries of Agriculture and Commerce are eyeing include Russia, Brazil, and India as well as African, South American and South Asian countries.

Only perhaps that nobody appears to think it important.

Though why that should surprise anyone is beyond me.

To put things in perspective of export and GDP.

Total export value for 2015 was about US$ 211 bilion (times 35 = 6.39 trillion Baht). IMF estimated GDP in 2015 to be US$ 1.107 trillion (+/- 38 trillion Baht).

PS the figures chainarong refers to could be from this wiki page on the Economy of Thailand. It's a line added on the 6th this month with link to BP supplied on the 12th.
