Discussions on women's role in national reform

BANGKOK, 20 June 2016, (NTT) - A gathering was recently arranged to discuss women's role in national reform and to realize the importance of the public referendum.

The event was organized by the women's movement for Thailand's reform, also known as WeMove, at the office of the Association for the Promotion of the Status of Women, in Donmuang district, Bangkok.

The talks were aimed at creating understanding about national reform, while providing an opportunity for female members of society to express their views on the draft charter.

Participating in the talks were Ms. Ankana Neelapaijit, a member of the National Human Rights Commission of Thailand, Ms. Supensri Pongkaoksung, manager of the Social Equality Promotion Foundation, representatives of WeMove and constitutional law experts.

The discussion was held according to the principle of human equality; attendees were not subject to discrimination against their gender, religion or nationality. It sought to devise plans to develop the Kingdom, and achieve sustainable democracy with public participation, by drawing on the opinions of both men and women.
