PM Prayut says he won’t step down even charter is rejected on August 7 referendum

We all know nothing will change until a "certain event" takes place

Sums up the situation. The Pm would be very happy if the constitution was voted down, it would give him an excuse to cling to the seat of power. He would then have to "guide" the country into the uncertain future.

I'm sure you're right, but voted down is what I think it will be.

That will force Prayuth to adopt his plan B and impose a constitution of his choosing, which, naturally will closely resemble the one we have a draft for now. After all, this draft was written to his specifications by the same drafter that Suchinda used way back when (1990 I think), that resulted in the student problems, so why would he go the bother of pretending to draft a different one?

The downside for the grumpy fella is that as soon as he does that, the whole world can see his clothes for what they are, and then the poo is in the padlom. If that happens, we could almost watch the international community distance themselves from him in real time... I suppose he could close the borders (which is what the yellows want him to do) but at what cost to Thailand? Catastrophic. But I honestly don't think Prayuth would care very much about that, he's a one trick pony.

Winnie

ps Is Pheua Thai *really* considering running Sudarat as leader? That would be a real problem.

You cannot compare UK with Thailand, they are essentially opposite ends of the spectrum.

I do not know? We have one politician who seem to have lost all support, saying "you can not get rid of me"

It's a beautiful thing isn't it, the words just so effortlessly slip from his moth without even batting an eye.

Hey junta fanboy's please tell us how he takes full responsibility for anything at all whilst self granted amnesty for past present and future???

Guy's like djjamie, Englishjohn and the rest of the bunch have seemed to suddenly lose their voices.

Can't say I blame them.

It sucks when you realize you've been wrong on so many levels.

Thailand's political situation is no better now than it was post 2014.

This man has no intention of ever stepping aside and will use any means necessary to ensure that he remains the big Kohuna.

This tyrant will never "step down". There will have to be another coup. Even the guys who took power after the very first coup had to be overthrown by another coup.wai.gif

Recently Prayut said, "I do not crave power. I had more than enough power over the past 40 years, including when I was in charge of the army. Today, I am exercising my power to speed up development so I can leave quickly. I am sick of seeing my face on television."

With regard to the last statement Prayut's sentiment is surely shared by other Thais. But if he is narcissistic as some say, he really can't get enough of his own image and voice.

On suspects the time is approaching when this thug might be "stepped down" with his having a say in it.

I think you may be right. 'Under the bus' time is approaching methinks.

Winnie

Do you think he has used up all of his "greenie points" that he accumulated while running the army or do you think that someone else is chomping at the bit to have their name written down in the history books as the "Savior" of Thailand. Oh how soon we forget. Two years should be enough to put your brand on anything.

Don't know. What I do know is that in my opinion, apart from the little light relief which he has unintentionally given, this man is an unmitigated disaster for Thailand; bot he and Thailand are a standing joke in the international community. If I were Thai I'd be screaming in embarrassment. Sorry, no I wouldn't Khoin Thai maid ruchak quam kuay kern.

I reallly don't know why the amaat chose this little guy to front their campaign for... not so much making sure that Thaksin doesn't get power, but making sure someone else doesn't. Because if that person does get power, Thaksin will be back like a rat up a drainpipe, that deal has already been done. The Amaat would be in serious trouble and Prayuth and Co would be finished, and I do mean finished. Thaksin is typically Chinese, devious, corrupt and holds a serious grudge. Make no mistake, this guy Prayuth will start killing soon just like he did in 2010, because after the referendum (which I believe he will lose), the only legitimacy he will be able to muster is fear.

And he's starting to panic. Fear written all over him. And his dumpy mate. They thought they would save Thailand because they believe the other guy will not satisfy their agenda. In fact they've highlighted that Thailand really should have been colonised...

My opinion,

Winnie

Why did they choose this guy??

He was the one willing to use live ammo in 2010, that's why.

The referendums are different and cannot be cited for comparison and besides the govt didn't draft the charter.

No your appointed lackeys did and there's no way they would produce anything that hadn't been instructed or is approved of so just more hollow words and a totally weak excuse.

He will not step down, it is totally different...

You know in the UK:

- They don't give a crap about the people

- They make referendum to serve their own interest and to try to get some points with their cronies without any thought about their country and people.

- They blatantly lie on a daily basis to serve their own interest ($$$)

- They push through a referendum that no-one really wants anyway...

Totally different.... cheesy.gifcheesy.gifclap2.gifclap2.gif

I think more is being done under him than the others ,maybe it's slow but it is happening ,

More what is being done under him? More damage to the country?

Doing the honorable thing is a concept which I believe is unknown to Thais. Cameron's resignation in the wake of the Brexit vote is deemed by some as an honorable act. The Japanese have an honor system based on shame.

Japanese business and political leaders who feel they have brought shame on themselves or their family etc, sometimes commit suicide.

In Thailand, wrongdoers have to be dragged kicking and screaming before they admit they are wrong.

I see absolutely no chance of a resignation or admission of error under any circumstances from the subject of this topic.

You don't have to look to far either, just look at YL still thinks she's done nothing wrong and will never admit to any of her wrong doings along with her minions. It's quit sad really

I thought this topic was about the Thai referendum. What has the one in the UK got to do with anything here?

Don't be surprised if this thing gets up and approved, My wife told me this morning the village had a meeting yesterday and the people were told by head man and local gov't workers to vote for the draft, no info about it, just vote it.

How many other villages have had this happen?

I don't know how many.. but those guys were supposed to explain it to the people, not tell them to vote for it. I think the problem is they don't understand it themselves and the only way to save face is to push it on the people

And every head man that does this, commits a crime.
