Windows 10 has been notoriously causing problems for Windows 7 and Windows 8 users when it is forcefully upgraded. Unfortunately for Microsoft, the Redmond giant decided to pay a $10,000 settlement due to a reported forced Windows 10 upgrade. The settlement was paid to a travel agent owner named Teri Goldstein. “I had never heard of Windows 10,” said Goldstein via The Seattle Times.

One day Windows 10 just appeared on her computer and it crashed repeatedly. And those crashes affected her business. Goldstein said that her computer ended up being unusuable for several days at a time. She tried reaching out to Microsoft for support, but those attempts were unsuccessful. That is when she decided to file a lawsuit against the company.

Through the lawsuit, Goldstein sought compensation for lost wages and the cost of a new computer. Microsoft paid the $10,000 settlement to avoid a drawn out lawsuit. Going forward, Microsoft is also going to investigate Goldstein’s Windows 10 upgrade to find out what happened exactly.

Why didn't she just click the revert to her previous OS setting which you can do for 30 days after the upgrade to Win 10? Maybe that was too hard for her....she probably uses a cheat-sheet to tell her how to turn the computer on....such as "Press Power Button to Turn On Computer" tattooed on the palm of her hand.:

Edit: Here's Teri Goldstein's business website, "Travels With Teri." Maybe I'll drop her an email of she knows of any travel destinations that don't have Win 10.
