taxout
"Within a family, a child can receive up tohalf of the parent’s full retirement or disabilitybenefit. . . . There is a limit, however, to the amountof money that we can pay to a family. The familymaximum payment is determined as part of everySocial Security benefit computation. It can be from150 to 180 percent of the parent’s full benefitamount. If the total amount payable to allfamily members exceeds this limit, we reduceeach person’s benefit proportionately (except theparent’s) until the total equals the maximumallowable amount." https://www.ssa.gov/pubs/EN-05-10085.pdf Link to comment
