Holidaymakers urged to visit Thale Ban National Park in Satun

SATUN, 30 June 2016 (NNT) - Holidaymakers are invited to visit Thale Ban National Park in Satun province to enjoy the picturesque freshwater lake and other natural beauties, which have remained protected from modern development.

According to Thale Ban National Park Chief Jarun Khunnarong, the 125-rai lake located in the middle of the valley of Kuan district was believed to be created after the ground subsided. Run off from natural water sources then flooded the valley over a period of time.

In addition to the greenery, hundreds of glandular frogs can also be seen here. These amphibians emit a cry similar to a dog barking, which can be heard both during the day and at night. They are among the many attractions that the national park has to offer.

Thale Ban National Park, which sits on a 196-square-kilometer area, borders Malaysia, Songkhla province, and Tone Nga Chang Wildlife Sanctuary. Mr. Jarun said it is a perfect site for those who love eco-tourism.

And no doubt more tourists would, if they weren't being expected to pay the increases over and above what Thai people do ??????

For peace and quiet visit during the week....if you like just looking at a lake that is. At weekends there is a Thai/Malaysia border market with few places to park and stalls with all the usual food and very useful (ahem!) items that every human needs to buy..yawn.

Yes they want tourists to go so that they can charge them extra.

What a random place to promote to foreigners. I went a couple years ago and was not very impressed at all -- basically a swamp and some woods. A nearby waterfall is part of the park and is worthwhile but that was free. The actual park charges way more for foreigners but unlike other parks it offered no English brochures or English speakers in the visitor center. Ko Tarutao much better for nature lovers in Satun.

Went there years ago , was full of nasty musquitos that followed me around.

I don't remember paying there .... must be before they started to overcharge in N. parks.

Would love to relax to the dulcet tones of frogs barking.

How much for foreigners, how much for Thais? Expdct B400 & B40. Could go to many places for that money, let alone a national park. How would you get there anyway?

They are slowly digging their own graves!
