Chulalongkorn postpones CU-TEP examination scheduled on Aug 7

BANGKOK: -- Chulalongkorn University has decided to postpone the CU-TEP examination for some 6,000 first-year students scheduled on Sunday August 7 which coincides with the national referendum.

Dr Pomthong Malakul na Ayudhya, vice rector for academic affairs of the university, said Thursday that the examination date was set in advance long time ago before the government set the date for referendum on the draft constitution.

The examination was intended to test the first year students’ skill in their usage of English and Thai languages and about 6,000 students will sit for the examination.

Dr Pomthong explained that August 7 was chosen because the first semester starts on August 8 and the university was not aware in advance that the referendum would be held on August 7.

He said that the university had attached importance to the students to exercise their voting right and, therefore, decided to postpone the examination to a later date which is yet to be set.

He asked students to keep abreast with the university’s announcements about the new date for the test.

Good news...

"The examination was intended to test the first year students’ skill in their usage of English and Thai languages"

Bated breath...

Winnie

So they will now postpone the date of the exam ( Aug 7 th ) , which shows how good the kids are in English until a later.

But the school starts classes on Aug 8 th ?? Guess this is not very important; or they would have done it on the Aug 6 th ?

So why bother ? Oh I know. It is because they charge each kids money to write the exam.

Even if it is 1000/ kid. It is 6,000 x 1000 bt = 6 million baht. Not too Bad; for 3 hours.
