BANGKOK, 1 July 2016 (NNT) - The Bank of Thailand (BoT) has resolved to keep its 2016 economic growth outlook at 3.1% after tourism growth and domestic consumption indicated positive signs in May.

BoT Senior Director of the Monetary Policy Group Roong Malikamas said the Thai economy had continued to show improvement between April and May. The expansion was attributed to tourism and domestic consumption growth.

Mr. Roong further revealed that consumer spending, particularly on durable goods, also rose by 7.8% from April to May.

Meanwhile, Household and agricultural spending recorded growth as the drought situation started to subside. However, the bank is seeing a 2.5% contraction in the export sector this year, despite the BoT’s positive growth forecast.

Regarding the inflation rate, the BOT Senior Director said it will likely fall within the forecast range during the second half of the year. The average inflation rate has been estimated at around 0.6% for the year.

exposure to the world markets does not matter as far as forecasting goes

its up ! its down !

not sure !

so we just always be an optimist when we ( BoT) put our forecast

in the public arena,

"BoT says Thai economy to grow by 3.1% this year"

Are you sure or are you playing guessing games yet again?

And keep Brexit in your back pocket if an excuse for failure to meet growth figures is needed.

So matter of fact. It must have come directly from a goat. What if the US raises rates...or a thousand other things that can happen...

We used to say retarded, but it is no longer PC thumbsup.gif

People are worried about their jobs seeing this report.

Anyone saying bad things must go and appear before TV cameras and say sorry i was wrong to hurt the image of Thailand.

here we go again and now from an institution that before could be trusted

All you hav to do is look around to see doom and gloom in people

I think every one has their random number generators turned up

3.1% growth is a miserable result compared to neighbouring countries. The big question is what might it have been if not for the events of 2014?

When Thai people see more baht in their pocket, that will be the time to celebrate - should I say "Lies, damn lies ...", no, pointless.
