Balkan EU hopefuls told Brexit will not hit their membership chances

PARIS: -- France, Germany and Italy met in Paris on Monday for a Balkans Summit at which they sought to allay fears that the Brexit would harm their accession process.

Serbia, Bosnia, Kosovo, the former Yugoslav republic of Macedonia, Montenegro and Albania were all concerned that the membership rules would change following Britain’s rejection of the EU, but their representatives were told it changes nothing for them.

“So it was important to reaffirm very clearly that the British decision does not bring in to question the engagements which were taken with respect to the countries from the Balkan region,” said host French President Francois Hollande.

The six nations are at different stages of membership talks with Serbia expected to be ready to join in 2019. Croatia and Slovenia are already members.

Albania’s Prime Minister Edi Rama said he thought the Brexit would convince EU leaders
that “more Europe is needed.” While the EU divides Serbian opinion to a degree, in the the other five support is massive, at 80-90%.

Another excellent reason emerges for the UK to have left the witless, bureaucratic, empire-building machine that is the EU

Of course it wont.

Empire building by stealth will continue unabated.

Average monthly wage euros 400. Have a guess at what will happen facepalm.giffacepalm.gif

Excellent reason for BREXIT as Eastern Europe dumps its nationals on the west with freedom of movement, less of a strain for them at home. Couple this to receiving more than you contribute then its easy to understand why they are queuing up to join.

So another country sells its soul to get a few years of prosperity and grants and then wham. You belong to the EU commission. If only the people were smart enough to know their country's fate.

The poor Balkans want in on the gravy train. Guess who's paying ...

20 years ago they were butchering each other , in a few years happily sucking on brussels' tits.

Lucky Brits !! ( they just don't know it yet )

The "Greater Europe" for tomorrow ... or maybe a little later smile.png

yet another media crock of sh!te...how would the UK leaving the EU have any effect on other countries joining, flaming hell I wish they would give it a rest. If they put as much time into trying to look at ways to help sort it out and make it better as they do into Doom and Gloom then it would be sorted now!!!

It makes no sense to me.

The UK leaving will result in a reduction of EU income - surely they need to find cost cutting measures to make up for this reduction rather than allowing new, non-contributory countries to join the EU?

I bet there are more people hopeful of their Country leaving the EU than there are those hopeful of their Country joining it.

It makes no sense to me.

Everyone knows that you and your colleagues do not understand, otherwise you would have voted differently. smile.pngsmile.pngsmile.png Joke, eh.
The Europe founders had, in the initial a large Union of peace and prosperity project, going from Atlantic to Urals. Including Russia so.
But they knew that England, too involved with the US would oppose.
For this reason Europe's founders have refused his participation initially.
So now the original project may be revived.

An honest question here - What does the EU get out of allowing Albania to join? Surely they will be another country taking out considerably more than they put in?

Where then they can hire North Korean workers to fill their jobs:

It makes no sense to me.

Guess also that the old variant will be revived.

The largest land mass with the most natural resources of the earth.

In front the Eastern European countries with the most nutritious soils.

With an Brexit, geopolitical there would then also arise new advantages for the EU.

It makes no sense to me.

Interesting to read your opinion (and joke) - but it still comes back to the EU needing to cut costs to meet the UK leaving?

How does allowing new non-contributory countries help to address this problem?
