PATTAYA:--Pattaya has begun demolishing a three-story hotel parking garage at the Bali Hai Bay Hotel after finding it encroached on public land.

City Legal Department chief Sretapol Boonsawat led Pattaya engineers and contractors from Boy Ocean Star Co. to the site July 2 with heavy machinery to start tearing down the illegal structure. The demolition is expected to take 120 days.

The hotel was warned and told to take down its carpark, but ignored legal notices, leaving the city no choice but to do the job itself and bill the hotel, Sretapol said.

The hotel guest on the left of the photo wants to know why he wasn't informed in advance to move his parked car.........

and if the hotel doesn't pay the bill, then what?

Who knows but the hotel itself is an asset of some kind and I am sure it has an owner

so at least there is a potential target to go after. whistling.gif

Also last week the disco just around the corner from this hotel was in the news. Seems it is half on public land. City said it would have to be torn down. Guess what. This week it is being torn down as well.

Any link to the resignation of top city officials?

Lets see if the monastery blocking the view from the viewpoint uphill a bit further down the road is the next one.

Being an American I think his exact words were "dude, where's my car?"

If you are referring to the now former mayor, the son of the mayor who is supposed to have done away with a few people who got in his way??? he did not resign, his term of offices came to an end last month and as elections are on hold he can not be re elected so I think the army is in control and it is going to take more than a few bags of tea money to stop that wreaking ball. gigglem.gif

I love seeing this type of progress.

Because the City is doing it, it will take 120 days, to demolish a car park?

They should enlist the guys who rip a Go-Go-bar down to a shell and then back up again in a month to do the job.

Why don't they use explosives to bring it down?

Why don't they use explosives to bring it down?
